Let Your Light Shine
2 Timothy 3:1–5 (NIV): There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—5 having a form of godliness but denying its power.
1 John 4:4 (ASV): … greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.
Matthew 5:14-16 (AMP) “You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
John 8:12 (ESV) Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
What darkens our lives?
Wrong people
1 Corinthians 15:33 (NIV): Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
Proverbs 13:20 (NLT): Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.
Unforgiveness
Matthew 6:14–15 (NLT): “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. 15 But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
Not connecting to our source
John 1:5 (NIV): “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness [will] not overcome it.”
How to stay connected to our source
Surrender to Jesus
1 John 1:5 (NIV): This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.
Follow His Word
Psalm 119:105 (NIV): Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
Partner With Holy Spirit

Acts 1:8 (NIV): “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Get Involved In His Church
2 Timothy 1:6–7 (NIV): For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and [sound mind].
2 Timothy 3:5 (NIV): … having a form of godliness but denying its power.
Matthew 5:16 (AMP) ”Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven.“
1 Peter 2:9 (NIV): But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
